Do’s and Don’t’s of Face Washing

Do’s and Don’t’s of Face Washing
Do’s and Don’t’s of Face Washing
Face washing is an essential step in cleansing. From times immemorial, individuals especially women have attached importance to use of homemade products and masks for face cleaning.

At times it is also neglected and taken casually regarding the type of products, aggressiveness of use and suitability as per the skin. All in all we cannot ignore the hygiene of face as it can result in multiple implications for the skin.

Some Do's and Don'ts....

1. Always use right products suited to the face. As a thumb rule use mildest facewash. Type of facewash used can vary according to skin type but look for gentle, non irritating types. Common misconception is that more the lather better is the cleaning. Rather such face washes are high on detergent content. One should try and go for milder washes preferably fragrance free to avoid allergy.

2. Use right temperature of water. Use or very cold of very hot and very cold water can either over dry skin or cause skin to look blanched.

3. Use same facewash twice daily atleast in winters and three times a day in summers followed by moisturizer. Avoid rushing out in sun immediately after washing face. Take time out to apply sunscreen.

4. Never rub your face vigorously after washing. Mop the face gently with mild towel. Also use oilfree moisturizer in acne prone skin and creamy moisturizer in dry skin within 3 minutes after facewash.

5. Don't use Facewashes for removing makeup. Remove make up with remover or even a good moisturizer. Then wash it off with facewash. Some people like to follow cleanser, toner, moisturizer ( CTM) routine. It doesn't work for everyone as some people can get allergic rash to toners as they are alcohol based. Always try products behind ears for 48-72 hours to see if they suit and then start using.

6. Replacements like curd or milk do not actually work. Some people prefer not to use facewash or use only homemade things as replacement like curd or milk. These are not very effective cleansers and can lead to blackheads or clogged pores. Soaps too are not a good choice as they are not ph balanced. Facewashes remain the best choice.

Face is the mirror of body. To maintain face hygiene facewashes have an important role to play. Something we all need to choose judiciously.

How To Sync Bookmarks Across Different Browsers Using Xmarks

Recently we talked about how you can import and export bookmarks from different browsers. This process, though simple and easy, is time consuming especially when you use more than one browser frequently.

The solution to this problem is Xmarks. This tool provides bookmarks synchronization across different browsers. You can easily sync all your bookmarks across Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Safari.  Xmarks stores all the bookmarks in the user account and those stored bookmarks are synchronized across browsers.
Bookmark synchronization means if you made a change in bookmarks on any one of browsers then it  appears on another browser too when you use the tool to sync it.
To sync your bookmarks between different browsers you need to install Xmarks extension in all the browsers you use. Xmarks provides add-ons for Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer and Safari.
Xmarks
In your Firefox browser go to Tools> Addons > Get Addons. Search for Xmarks, install it and restart your browser.  You can also directly go to the Xmarks add-on page and install it from there.
After restarting Firefox Go to tools> Xmarks option. Click on Next button and it will prompt you to Sign up page. Select “Create an account for me” option and click on Next button .
xmarks2
Now sign up to Xmarks by filling username, email address, password field and click on Next button.
xmarks bookmark sync
One of the most useful feature of Xmarks is it also provides password sync. You can enable secure password sync by selecting “Yes” option. Click on Next button.

xmarks6
Your data (bookmarks and Password) will start syncing. All the data on server will appear on your computer and vice versa. You will get notification of successful synchronization of bookmarks and password.
xmarks8
XMarks extension is also available for Google Chrome(Beta Version), Internet Explorer and Safari Browser. You can easily sync all your bookmarks on all the four browsers. The basic steps for syncing bookmark is similar for all the browsers.

Top 8 Firefox Add-ons for Android

Sure, Firefox is no longer the hottie in the browser space. On desktop, Chrome still rules. On Android, Chrome is the default for many phones. But ol’ Firefox still has some fire in it. Especially if you’re a pro user who wants to enhance your browsing experience using add-ons or extensions.

Firefox
I like to tell people that Chrome extensions is where the action is. But Chrome for Android doesn’t support extensions at all. Google seems to be taking the classic “there’s an app for that” approach.
But this is where they’re wrong. I think the web browsing experience, especially for the geeks among us can be significantly improved with the help of add-ons.
And yes, there are other browsers like Dolphin that support add-ons. But let me tell you, they’re no Firefox.
If you’re already using Firefox for Android, or you think Chrome is a bit too crippling and want to switch to something more powerful, install the add-ons below.

Add-ons 101

To get to the add-ons section tap the three dotted menu -> Tools -> Add-ons.
Firefox Android Firefox Android
At the bottom you’ll also see a link to the Add-ons Marketplace. From here you can search for add-ons and download them. Add-ons will be updated automatically along with the Firefox app.

1. Adblock Pro

We’ll start with every geek’s favorite extension. Using this add-on, you can block pretty much every ad on a page (and while you’re at it, consider adding guidingtech.com to the whitelist). I can hear the sound of switching default browsers across the globe already. If you want to do this OS-wide and you’re rooted,
If you’re not comfortable with Adblock Pro, check out the open source alternative uBlock instead.

2. Black background and white text

Firefox Android
I’m sure you browse the web before going to bed. Use this extension to make it easier on your eyes. This will give web pages a black background and white text.

3. Ghostery

Firefox Android Firefox Android
If you’re privacy conscious, download Ghostery. It will tell you about all the scripts that are tracking you on the page. The extension will also block malicious scripts and basically prevent trackers from gathering your personal data.

4. LastPass

Firefox Android
We’re fan of LastPass here at Guiding Tech. We picked it as the best password manager. You can now use LastPass directly in Firefox (you’ll still need LastPass Premium though).

5. Open Native App

Using this extension, when you visit links for Google Play or YouTube, they’ll open directly in the native app.

6. Tap Translate

Firefox Android
This add-on lets you translate text from websites between different languages, without leaving the browser.

7. Lock

Firefox Android
Instead of being careful about what you browse and remembering to clear the history and the passwords, just use the Lock add-on. It password protects Firefox.

8. Three Finger Swipe

This is a really cool add-on that adds 3 finger gestures. Swipe three fingers up for a new tab. Three fingers left/right is for the previous/next tab. If you own a phablet and you prefer two-handed web browsing, this add-on can help you a lot.

Facebook messenger integrating with the WhatsApp

Everyone knows that Facebook owns Whatsapp and the company rolled out voice calling features to the app on Android recently.

However, it looks like things are changing rapidly as a new update reveals Facebook messenger integrating with the chat app.

Millions of users around the globe use Whatsapp and as a matter of fact, it has more subscribers than Facebook itself, which is why the company acquired it. After all, no one can predict when a social media website would fall, as years pass by. Ever since their acquisition, the company never had any idea to merge the two together. Besides, there was no need to do it until now. People who use the messenger in Facebook on Android and other operating systems often have a need, when they have to contact their friends or family.

Not everyone installs and keeps FB ready, which is when Whatsapp comes into picture. The most popular messaging app, which also has voice calling, makes it easier to stay in touch with others. Besides, users don’t have to switch between two apps to text and communicate with people in their contact list
